Paint & Plonk with The Journey Studio at Bungaree Station

Come along to the beautiful and historic Bungaree Station and join Meg Mader from The Journey Studio in a fun Paint & Plonk event creating two fantastic acrylic ink artworks inspired by the wildlife and grounds.

Meg will take you through the artworks with step-by-step instructions presented in a booklet to keep with all art materials provided. All you have to do is turn up and have fun. Enjoy a glass of local wine, beer or soft drink on arrival (with more to purchase during the event) along with a shared local produce platter for grazing while you create.

Absolutely no artistic experience is necessary, just a sense of fun!

A bit about Bungaree Station:

The story of Bungaree Station begins on Christmas Day 1841, when George C Hawker and his brothers, James and Charles, selected this as the site for their “head station”. They had purchased 2000 ewes from NSW, and on advice of the explorer, Edward John Eyre, went looking for sufficient good land along the Hutt River. They found “good drinkable water at a depth of 8 feet and plenty of it” and named the property “Bungaree”, after the aboriginal name for the area.

Bungaree became the headquarters of an extensive property, running 100,000 merino sheep. As a result, the property was like a small village, with its sandstone Homestead, Woolshed, Shearers’ Quarters, Station Store, Manager’s House, District Council Chambers, staff cottages and a Church.

Today, as well as being an efficient mixed farm run by the 4th and 5th generations of the Hawker family, Bungaree Station offers heritage accommodation for guests, day tours, and unique venues for conferences, weddings and other functions.

February heralds the new season with many exciting exhibitions lined up for you, beginning with a multicultural theme linked with Auburn World Music and Food Fiesta.  On the weekend of 9th - 10th February we have a very special workshop run by my good friend, Cari Schuster.  Cari will guide us through a beautiful weekend of hand stitching inspired by the traditional Prayer Flags of Tibet. I am also thinking, for those who prefer quilting, the workshop would offer an inspiring theme and starting point for an inspirational quilt!   All the  materials needed are included in the cost of the class, you need only bring your basic stitching tools and lunch.  Please see the flyer for details and email or phone me if you would like to join us.  Remember, as always, you are welcome to bring a friend or pass on this email to anyone you think may be interested but places are limited so book in early to avoid disappointment.
