Mort & Kevin Mitchell

A family legacy entrenched in the vine; father and son, Mort and Kevin Mitchell have a long association with grapegrowing and winemaking in the Clare Valley. As a highly regarded grapegrower, Mort has been a defining influence on his family, having planted and tended to this day, Kilikanoon’s Golden Hillside suite of contiguous vineyards, including the famed Mort’s Block. Kevin founded Kilikanoon Wines in 1997, and is now the Chief Winemaker, trained in both the scientific and artistic sides of winemaking. He graduated in 1992 from Adelaide University and has both a Bachelor Applied of Science in Agriculture and a Graduate Diploma in Wine Technology. In 2013, Kilikanoon Wines was awarded the James Halliday Winery of the Year. More recently, Kevin received the 2014 “Winemaker of the Year’ at the Clare Valley Hall of Fame Awards.
