The Clare Valley Riesling Trail is one of Australia’s most popular and accessible walking and cycling trails.
The Clare Valley's reputation for Riesling inspired the naming of the Riesling Trail - a recreational trail for walking and cycling, travelling along 35 kms and connecting the townships of Auburn, Leasingham, Watervale, Penwortham, Sevenhill, Clare and White Hut. The trail is an integral segment of the 800 km Mawson Trail and provides a wonderful opportunity to discover and experience the townships, soak up the history of the Clare Valley and enjoy the grandeur of its unique landscape. The track follows the contours and curves of the former railway line from Auburn to Clare and 10 kms north to Barinia Road. The Riesling Trail can be ridden on a bike in about 2.5 hours, and walked in nine hours. New additions to the Riesling Trail are the magnificent art sculptures, including the shepherd and his sheep at the Clare site. Make sure you have a photo with the sculptures when passing by!
