Georgian-style mansion

Martindale Hall is a jewel in the Mid North. This Georgian-style mansion is considered one of South Australia’s grandest stately homes, sitting within a 45-acre pastoral property.

Built in 1879 by 21 year old sheep farmer, Edmund Bowman, Martindale Hall has a rich history. In 1891, after a prolonged drought, the property was sold to grazier and politician William Mortlock. It was a place for Adelaide’s elite to enjoy extravagant sporting and social events.

The mansion was also featured in the 1976 film, “Picnic at Hanging Rock”. Today, it is a museum for visitors to explore.
